IEEE/ANSI Outdoor Cold Shrinkable Termination, up to 35 kV (CSTO)
Product Code: CSTO
The Chardon Cold Shrinkable Termination offers easy installation and reliable performance when terminating indoor and outdoor medium voltage cables. Made from high quality, UV resistant, silicone rubber, the Chardon Cold Shrinkable Termination offers a combination of durability and high performance in the field.
It includes a stress controlling compound housing, preassembled on a plastic “hold out” tube. As the plastic hold out is removed, the stress relief housing shrinks onto the cable. The terminations are easy to install, and have a wide application range. No tools, or heat sources are required. The products are designed to last the entire life of the cable.

Why do we need both measurements?
The conductor cross-section (e.g., 95 mm²) is standardized and almost always printed on the cable jacket or listed in datasheets. However, cables with the exact same conductor can have vastly different Insulation Outer Diameters depending on their voltage class and the manufacturer's design.
While some catalogs provide the nominal Insulation O.D., manufacturing tolerances mean the real diameter can differ. That is why verifying the exact dimension using an appropriate tool, such as a caliper, is highly recommended before specifying your medium voltage accessory.
1. Sizing the Separable Connector or Termination
The accessory body (adapter or cold shrink) stretches over the insulation. A precise interference fit is critical to eliminate air gaps and control the electric field.
Requires exact Insulation O.D. (mm)
2. Sizing the Metallic Lug
The internal connector (compression or shear-bolt) must perfectly match the core to safely carry the electrical current without overheating.
Requires exact Conductor Size (mm²)
