Why do these two measurements matter?
1. Conductor Cross-Section (mm²):
It dictates the size of the metallic lug or connector (compression or shear-bolt) that will be installed inside the accessory to carry the electrical current.
2. Insulation Outer Diameter (O.D.):
It defines the physical size of the rubber housing. For Cold Shrink Terminations, it ensures the tube shrinks tightly enough to prevent moisture ingress. For Separable Connectors, it ensures the cable adapter creates a perfect void-free dielectric seal.
Did you know?
The black "Semicon" layers are not insulation. They are slightly conductive! Their job is to keep the electric field perfectly uniform around the cable, preventing electrical stress points that could cause a breakdown.
